Part-time Health Insurance Navigator (Spanish-speaking wanted)

The Healthcare Consortium is seeking a part-time (21 hours per week) Health Insurance Navigator to provide in-person assistance to individuals and families in Columbia and Greene Counties applying for health insurance through the New York State of Health, the online marketplace for public and commercial health insurance.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and a valid driver’s license; no knowledge of or previous experience with health insurance is required, as training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will have an instinct for helping others, be curious and willing to learn, be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and be motivated to provide excellent customer service, both in person and by phone. People who can speak Spanish are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Healthcare Consortium’s offices are located in an ADA-compliant facility. The candidate must also be able to work at alternate worksites and on some evenings and weekends (with ample advance notice). The job entails local travel to a variety of work settings (e.g. libraries, town halls, churches, etc.) using one’s own personal vehicle; all mileage expenses will be reimbursed at the federal rate ($.655 in 2023).

The starting wage for this non-exempt position is $19.75/hour (firm), with really attractive benefits including but not limited to ample paid time off, health, dental and vision coverage, and a retirement plan.
