SUNY Canton welcomes applications for a Development Associate to join a team of well-qualified and energized Advancement professionals to further the College’s dynamic partnerships with faculty, students, staff, alumni, parents, corporations, and the community, throughout the North Country and beyond.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Planned Giving, the Development Associate will assist with strategy, research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for a portfolio of approximately 100 - 150 donors and prospects, focused on alumni from SUNY Canton’s School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice (SHCJ), but also including first-time and annual donors from all areas of the College, who have the potential to support the students, faculty, and programs of SUNY Canton.
The Development Associate is a front-line fundraising position and will have the opportunity to help create relationships with existing donors and connect donors’ philanthropic interests and the priorities of the College, as well as conduct discovery work to identify and cultivate new prospects. The Development Associate will be expected to become an “expert” on the programs, faculty, vision, and needs of the SHCJ and to forge close partnerships with the Dean, faculty, and alumni of that School.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, have proven written and oral communication skills, strong follow-through, self-motivation, a sense of initiative, the ability to build trust-based donor relationships, work collaboratively and strategically with colleagues, and possess a strong understanding of the principles, ethics, and practices of successful fund raising.
Required qualifications: Associate’s degree with 2-4 years of professional work experience, or bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of work experience.
Prior to final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
Application Deadline: open until filled; application review begins immediately. Persons interested in the above position should apply online at https://employment.canton.edu/
