Head Start has the current openings:

Health/Disabilities Coordinator: Canton Administrative Office. Bachelors in Community Health or a RN. The position is full time, 35 hours per week, 43 weeks/year following the school calendar. The salary is $19.01 per hour.

Mental Wellness Coordinator: A MSW or LSW master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field. A social worker, psychologist, professional counselor or mental health counselor, or clinical license, with experience with young children and families. Must be licensed or certified. Estimated 30 hours per week for 42 weeks a year. The salary is $38.00 per hour.

Anticipated Teacher – Gouverneur Center: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred (24 credit hours of early childhood). Supervisory experience is a plus. The salary range is $17.95 to $19.01 per hour depending on degree.

Teachers – Massena (2) Center: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred (24 credit hours of early childhood). Supervisory experience is a plus. The salary range is $17.95 to $19.01 per hour depending on the degree.

Assistant Teachers – (1) Gouverneur, (1) Norwood and (1) Potsdam Centers: Person must have a minimum of a CDA (Child Development Accreditation), or a written plan of study. Early childhood experience preferred. The salary range is $15.00 - $15.84 per hour depending on the degree.

Classroom Aides – Brasher, Canton (Anticipated), Massena (Anticipated) and Potsdam Centers: Person must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. BOCES Certificate of Early Childhood, CDA, or substantial experience in early childhood daycare preferred. The salary is $15.00 per hour.

Classroom Aides/Bus Monitor – (2) Gouverneur Center: Person must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. BOCES Certificate of Early Childhood, CDA, or substantial experience in early childhood daycare preferred. The salary is $15.00 per hour.

Family Advocate/Bus Monitor – Parishville Center: This is a 28 hour position. Prefer Associate Degree in Human Services, Family Development Credential, or Social Service Competency Based training. Person will be responsible for parent involvement in the program. Home visits are required with families to assist them in securing services. Individual must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and mode of transportation in order to complete job requirements. Prefer candidate with good communication, organizational and computer skills. The salary range is $15.84 to $16.90 per hour depending on the degree.

Health Professionals for various areas in St. Lawrence County: Experience in the Medical Field. Medical Professional, CNA, Home Health Aides, etc. Experience with young children a plus. The salary range is $15.84 to $16.90 per hour depending on the degree.

Bus Monitors for Brasher (1), Massena (1 Anticipated) and Potsdam (1) Centers: Persons must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Person should enjoy working with preschool aged children. The salary is $15.00 per hour.

Bus Monitor/Cleaner – Norwood Center: Persons must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Person should enjoy working with preschool aged children. The salary is $15.00 per hour.

Bus Drivers in various areas in St. Lawrence County: Responsibilities include safe transporting of preschool children to/from the Head Start Center. Position requires a clean NYS Driver’s License. Must be at least 21 years of age. Candidates must have a minimum of a Class C CDL, with an “S” and “P” endorsement license (willing to train). Follow NYS Article 19A regulations. The salary is $16.02 per hour.

Floating Aide (2) in various areas in St. Lawrence County: Person must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. BOCES Certificate of Early Childhood, CDA, or substantial experience in early childhood daycare preferred. The salary is $15.00 per hour.

Home Based Visitors in various areas in St. Lawrence County: Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid and clean NYS Driver’s license. CDA credential, Early Childhood Education or plan of study required. Experience with preschool children preferred. Position includes weekly home visits with families. An agency vehicle is provided. The salary range is $15.84 to $16.90 per hour depending on the degree.

Substitutes in the following positions are needed: Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Classroom Aides, Cooks and Bus Drivers.
