Full Description
SUNY Canton Information Services seeks applicants for a Systems Administrator (SL2 Programmer Analyst) to join our team. This position will be responsible for all aspects of mobile device management, software deployment to client machines, and management of print services. The successful candidate will join a group responsible for overall management of our server infrastructure and applications, and management of endpoints, in support of SUNY Canton’s academic and business needs.
Job Requirements and Essential Functions
The position will report to the Systems Manager and will work collaboratively with several teams of technical staff to provide support to the college’s server infrastructure. The incumbent will share responsibility for setup, configuration, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and the security of systems and servers both physical and virtual; installation, upgrades, and patching of operating systems and software; incident resolution; programming and scripting of in-house applications; documentation of configurations and changes; continuous improvement of services; and continuing professional advancement. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required. This position is physically located at the SUNY Canton campus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or Associates degree in field with 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Understanding of operating systems, server and storage hardware infrastructure.
- Familiarity with network protocols; information security concepts, standards, technologies, and best practices • Strong interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate, consult and interact effectively with technical and non-technical individuals in individual or group settings both orally and in writing. • Strong customer service, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to independently develop solutions for complex and difficult problems and to automate routine/repetitive tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; a strong commitment to customer service; and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and skillsets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Systems Administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Experience with administration of Microsoft Sharepoint and Office 365 suite.
- Experience with enterprise class tools such as: DSC, MDT, SCCM, WSUS; Intune, JAMF, DeployStudio, AutoPkgr.
- Experience with hypervisors such as VMware, Vxrails ,Hyper-V, and/or AzureStack HCI
- Programming or scripting experience in at least one language (e.g. PowerShell, Python, BASH, etc.)
- Experience in deploying and supporting mobile devices and apps on iOS and Android.
- Experience with macOS Server and Linux.
- Professional experience in a higher education IT environment
Salary: Maximum $44,374-52,000
